Daytona On My Mind

The 2011 NASCAR season prepares for night racing at Bristol this weekend and the field for The Chase is just about set.  This is an exciting time of the season for NASCAR fans everywhere.  This Saturday the Sprint Cup will pack 43 cars into Bristol Motor Speedway to race under the lights, and in just a few weeks the NASCAR "playoffs" will open up at Chicagoland Speedway (GEICO 400) for the track's first Chase appearance.

At the moment Kurt Busch is your points leader in the Sprint Cup standings but the whole story has yet to be told on the 2011 NASCAR season.  The rest of this season is shaping up to be spectacular.  Will someone finally be able to end Jimmie Johnson's run of 5 consecutive championships?  Jimmie sits in second going into the weekend and looks primed and ready to make a strong run at 6 in a row.  At this point it might be better for the sport if he doesn't win again this year but only time will tell.

The final 13 races will provide the tale for the 2011 season and Sports Traveler has deals on travel packages and tickets for every remaining race.  Also, Sports Traveler has special offers available on travel packages and tickets for several 2012 races including the Daytona 500.  That's right folks, "The Great American Race" is just 6 months away and the hype is already starting to build.  It was recently announced that Danica Patrick will be racing full-time in NASCAR's Nationwide Series.  She will also be driving a car for Stewart-Haas racing in the Daytona 500 as well as running a part-time schedule in Sprint Cup for the 2012 season.  If Danica is able to perform well next year then look for her to make a move to Sprint Cup full-time in 2013.

The 54th running of the Daytona 500 will take place on February 26, 2012, which is a week later than the event is traditionally held.  The extra week should only build anticipation for another exhilarating NASCAR season.  The Daytona 500 is truly a unique event in sports.  No where else will you find the first event of the year being the most prestigious and lucrative event of the entire year.  Points earned at the Daytona 500 are earned and worth just the same as any other race.  However, win one Daytona 500 and NASCAR history will remember you forever.  The Daytona 500 is one of the most televised sporting events in North American sports and has been a NASCAR tradition since 1959.

Being at the Daytona 500 is a Super Bowl like atmosphere and one of the ultimate experiences in all of sports.  At Sports Traveler we have a great selection of travel packages and tickets for the 2012 Daytona 500.  We offer comfortable lodging in Orlando and Daytona Beach!  Our travel packages can include airport transfers, motor coach transfers to and from the track, Sprint Cup and Nationwide tickets, and several different options for the number of nights of lodging needed.  Book a trip to the Daytona 500 or any other NASCAR race with your friends at Sports Traveler.  Your best resource for sports travel.
